Thursday, 3/31/11

Jake spit up a little again this morning, but still has a healthy appetite. Today is day 4 of chemo. When I came home from work, he had spit up a little. He's taking his time eating, but eventually finished it all.

Tuesday, 3/29/11

Jake "spit up" a bit this morning, but seems to be feeling ok. When I got home from work, he had spit up a bit on my rug. Still eating well. Today was day 2 of chemo.

Monday, 3/28/11

Jake started chemo tonight. Still eating well. He got an attitude this evening, so I had to lock him in the office until he calmed down. He was cracking me up afterwards-kept walking around with toys in his mouth.

Saturday, 3/26/11

Jake spit up a bit early this morning, but has been acting fine. Still eating a good amount. He's back to averaging about 6oz of canned food/day, plus some dry food.

Friday, 3/25/11

I spoke to the dr today and he thinks from what I described, that Jake is in remission. He said this could last a few years (fingers crossed!). He wants me to cut his prednisone down to every other day now, but will still be on chemo every 3 weeks, forever. Jake is doing well-still eating a lot and carrying his toys around. 

Thursday, 3/25/11

Jake continues to do well. He's eating well and even brought 3 of his toys on my bed tonight.

Wednesday, 3/23/11

Last night, Jake came into the bedroom carrying one of his toys and this morning, there was another toy in my bed. I'm glad he's showing interest. He's still eating well and being affectionate.

Tuesday, 3/22/11

I got up around midnight to check on Jake and he was in the kitchen eating his dry food. When I woke up this morning, he had finished his wet food and most of the dry food. I fed him 3 times for breakfast and he ate it all! I'm so happy he's feeling better!

Tonight, I fed him 5 times! I hope he doesn't get sick. Go Jake!

Monday, 3/21/11

Jake spent early this morning in bed with me. He then got up and thought he was going to throw up, but he just dribbled a little. Later when I looked at it, it was a small leaf he had eaten from a plant I was rooting on the counter. When he came back to bed, he was gurgly for a bit. His appetite is back-I fed him 3 times this morning and he ate it all. He had also finished his dinner from last night. The gurgling is now gone.

When I came home tonight, I could tell he wasn't feeling well. He had thrown up a lot by his litter box and on the kitchen floor a little. He wouldn't take his medicine at first, but after a bit, took his "cookie". He showed no interest in eating dinner, so I didn't push it. About an hour later, he perked up a bit when I asked him if he was hungry. He didn't eat right away, but after about 1/2 hour, I brought the bowl over to him and he started picking a little. 

Sunday, 3/20/11

This morning, Jake crawled under the covers with me for about 10 minutes, 2 different times. I fed him 3 times for breakfast. This afternoon, he was laying on the living room floor in front of the couch sleeping. When he woke up, he stretched, so I rubbed his belly. He stayed stretched out for a good 5 minutes and let me rub him. Tonight, he's not feeling good again, and hasn't finished his dinner.

Saturday, 3/19/11

Jake's appetite has been amazing. He's been eating 2-3 servings twice a day. Still very social.

Friday, 3/18/11

Jake ate a lot today, especially for dinner. Still a bit whiney, but seems to be doing ok.

Thursday, 3/17/11

Jake is still doing the same. He's been eating most, if not all of his seconds. He did get very aggressive tonight while I was eating dinner. He was trying to get at my chicken and bit my finger and then my hand. After that, he was fine. I probably shouldn't have let him lick my plate last week when I was having meatballs.

Tuesday, 3/15/11

When I got up this morning, he had eaten most of his seconds. I only fed him once for breakfast, but gave him a little more than I have been. He ate just about all of it by the time I got home.I gave him seconds for dinner. He's eating slower, but does have an appetite. He's still being social and lets me pet him.

Monday, 3/14/11

Jake threw up this morning-must have been while I was in the shower because I didn't hear it. He didn't eat as much today. When I came home, he hadn't finished his breakfast and I had only given him a small amount. He wouldn't touch his dinner for probably the first hour. Finally, I brought it over to him while he was sitting on a chair and he ate about half. Actually, by the time I was ready for bed, he hat eaten almost all of it, so I gave him seconds. I can tell he's still not feeling well.

Sunday, 3/13/11

Last night, I put whatever wet food was left into the bowl with his dry food, so I could run the dishwasher. This morning to my surprise, I woke up to find not only the wet food gone, but also the dry food. That made my day! He did spit up a little this morning, but there was something black in there that he must have eaten. He ate most of his breakfast, but by dinner, I gave him thirds and he ate it all! I can't believe the change in just a day or two. I keep telling him how proud I am of him!

Saturday, 3/12/11

Jake seems to be slightly improving. He's still not finishing his food, but eating most of it. I have to bribe him throughout the day with treats.

Friday, 3/11/11

Jake isn't having a good day. He only ate a little of his dinner last night, and when I got home today, he had only picked a bit at his breakfast. He took his meds with no problem, but won't touch his dinner. He's still drinking a lot from the faucet. He's still somewhat social-going out on the patio and walking around the house.

Thursday, 3/10/11

This morning, Jake was still doing ok. He followed me around again. Tonight when I got home, he had thrown up in the dining room. He hadn't finished his breakfast and he's only picked a bit at his dinner.

Wednesday, 3/9/11

Jake seems to be feeling better. This morning, he kept coming over to me while I was on the computer. I would follow him to the kitchen don't know what he is trying to tell me. He has done this before. It's like he wants attention, but if I pay too much attention, he gets annoyed. I wish I could read his mind! I tell him that I know he doesn't feel good and I wish there was something I could do to make him feel better.   

Tuesday, 3/8/11

Jake still seems to be doing a little better. He did bite me on the cheek this morning, but it was because I tried to pick him up and I guess he was in pain. It wasn't like his normal outbursts. After I put him down, he was fine. He's been eating more and is a little more social and affectionate.

Monday, 3/7/11

Jake seems to be doing a bit better today. He has more of an appetite. I fed him twice this morning. He started chemo again tonight and took his "cookies" without any problem. When I was eating my leftovers, he stood there waiting to lick the plate again. He ate most of his dinner, so I let him. He's also been drinking a lot from the faucet the past few days.

Sunday, 3/6/11

Jake did finish his dinner by the time I got up this morning. He's showing a little interest in food and eating at his own pace, but finishes it eventually. He took his "cookie" at dinner time with no problem-whew! I can tell he's still not feeling well. As a treat, I let him lick the plate from the meatballs & sauce I had for dinner. He seemed to enjoy it. I just hope he doesn't throw it up later.

Saturday, 3/5/11

Jake is not feeling well today. He let me sleep in a little, but when he finally got me up, he didn't want to eat. I gave him a small amount and bribed him with treats, but he barely ate anything. He has been really mellow all day and just sitting around. I gave him his "cookie" (prednisone) tonight, but he showed no interest for the first time. I ended up going out, but left it on the floor with some other treats. When I got back about 2 hrs later, he had eaten it, but is showing no interest in his dinner. I'm getting worried because he's supposed to start chemo again Monday and it he's not eating his cookies, then it won't be good.

Friday, 3/4/11

Well, I spoke to soon about his lack of appetite. This morning, he kept waking me up for more food. I ended up feeding him 3 times in the morning and twice at night.

Thursday, 3/3/11

Jake was pretty mellow today-I think he's not feeling too great. He is also not eating as much or quickly.

Wednesday, 3/2/11

I came home to find that Jake had thrown up all over the dining room rug. He had eaten most of his breakfast, but didn't finish it (I mixed a lot of dry food in with his wet and am thinking he didn't like that). He was cute tonight though-drinking from the kitchen & bathroom faucet.

Tuesday, 3/1/11

Not much news the past few days. My arm is still sore, but healing. Jake is eating well. He did throw up this afternoon. He is still attacking me a little more than normal. I did get an e-mail today that his canned food has been recalled, so I had to go back to the store and exchange the cans I had left.
