Friday, 2/25/11

Had to go to the dr today-my arm is infected where he bit me. I've been kind of laying low with him since the bite-not giving him too much attention so he won't attack. I came home early from work and he did nap with me for about 2 hrs, which was nice.

Thursday, 2/24/11

Jake bit me this morning really hard on my arm-felt like he hit a nerve! He's still eating 2-3 servings twice a day. 

Wednesday, 2/23/11

Jake had finished his dinner by the time I woke up this morning. I gave him some more food. He picked at it a little, but didn't show much interest. I noticed that he had dribbled a little on the patio. It might have been from yesterday though. Tonight, he actually ate a lot quicker and had 3 servings. At some point during the day, he had thrown up in the dining room, but he seems to be feeling better. 

Tuesday, 2/22/11

When I left for work, Jake hadn't finished his breakfast and when I got home, there was still a small amount left. He's very slow eating his dinner tonight. After looking at him again, he still looks really thin. When I stroke his back, it doesn't feel as bony, but his hind legs are still skin & bones.

Monday, 2/21/11

I was awoken at 11:30 last night to Jake throwing up outside his litter box. He slept with me most of the night and I could hear his stomach making noises. This morning, he dribbled a little bit, but still ate all his breakfast (2 servings).

Jake continues to amaze me. He still has a great appetite and is social.

Friday, 2/18/11

Jake is still doing the same. He eats 2-3 times twice a day and is social.

Thursday, 2/17/11

It was a rough night for Jake. Around 1am, he threw up a lot in the dining room. After I finished cleaning up, I was trying to pet him and he got my wrist really good. A few minutes later when I went to bed, I was laying on my stomach. I could hear him climb up on the bed and circle around my head. He then climbed on my stomach and licked my face, before plopping down on my stomach for a few minutes. Around 3am, he "dribbled" a bit in the bedroom. When I went into the office this morning, he had dribbled just a drop on the floor in there.

Tonight, he gobbled down 3 servings of dinner-a huge difference from this morning and the past few days!

Wednesday, 2/16/11

Jake is pretty much the same. He's taking longer to eat, but does eventually finish and I give him seconds. I usually have to bribe him with treats. When I got home from work, I noticed he threw up a little. Today was day 3 of chemo. I've been giving him extra anti-nausea medicine the past few days. 

Tuesday, 2/15/11

Jake got my face & leg this real good this morning. My right cheek has a long gash. Well, at least he has the energy to attack:). He had day 2 of chemo and is still eating well and being social.

Monday, 2/14/11

Jake is still doing the same. He's eating, but not as quickly. He started round 3 of chemo this evening. I gave him some extra anti-nausea medicine with his seconds.

Sunday, 2/13/11

Jake threw up early this morning. During the day, he was acting himself, but I think he's feeling a bit under the weather tonight. He's been a little more mellow and didn't eat his much of his dinner. The dark area above his nose seems to be peeling off-not sure what it was. He starts chemo again tomorrow.

Saturday, 2/12/11

Jake still has a great appetite and is being social and affectionate. I keep looking at him and his mid-section is definitely filling out. He also doesn't feel as bony when I touch him. I haven't seen him look this good in almost a year!

Friday, 2/11/11

I had put a call into the vet yesterday morning to renew his prescriptions and speak to the dr. but didn't hear back until this morning. Above Jake's nose, the fur was getting darker and I wasn't sure if I should be concerned. The dr. didn't know what could be causing it, but didn't seem worried. He told me that Jake should be on 10mg of prednisone for no more than 4-6 weeks and then it should be cut in half.  Today is just over 6 weeks, so starting tonight he gets 5mg/day.

This morning, he let me massage him for a few minutes, and then gave me kisses. I know he is feeling better. The dr. said the cancer could be going into remission. I'll never know officially, since they would need another biopsy to determine, and that isn't going to happen. The dr. said a few times that I might have a few years with him, which was music to my ears!  

Thursday, 2/10/11

Jake continues to do well. He is still eating like a horse and shows interest in his toys. Although I can't weigh him, I think he might be starting to put on some weight. His back legs still look like chicken legs, but the rest of him seems to be filling out. The way he's eating, I wouldn't be surprised.

Wednesday 2/9

Jake continues to amaze me. This morning, it seemed like he wasn't feeling well. Usually, as soon as I get up, he waits for his food. Today, he didn't. I put out some food and he wouldn't eat it. I even said the magic word "cookies", but no reaction. A little while later, I put some cookies in front of him and he ate them. Then, I brought over his bowl and he picked at it. Tonight, I fed him 3 times-and each was a larger amount than normal. And, he's eating the dry food too. 

Monday, 2/7/11

Jake is still doing really well. I've been feeding him 3-4 times, twice a day. He did maul my hand again tonight, but I'm glad he has all that energy. He is sleeping with me some of the night.

Sunday, 2/6/11

Jake is still doing well. His appetite is very healthy. This morning, I fed him 4 times!

Saturday, 2/5/11

Jake is still doing the same. Still being social. I can tell he is definately feeling better. I left a message with the doctor's office to find out when he should be starting to gain weight.

Friday, 2/4/11

Jake is starting to act more like the old Jake. This evening, he kept coming up to me and meowing, but not in a bad way-it was like he was trying to talk to me. He let me pet him and showed interest in his toys. Then, the phone rang and he mauled my hand, since I wasn't paying attention to him. At least he's still got spunk.

Thursday, 2/3/11

This evening, Jake was playing more than normal. He was also very vocal and kept following me around. I wish I could understand what he was trying to tell me. His appetite is great-he's been eating seconds.

Wednesday, 2/2/11

Jake is doing the same this morning. It seems like the only way to get him to finish his food is to bribe him with treats. Otherwise, he does eat it all eventually. I just hate seeing him go over to the bowl, look at it and walk away. I hope he starts putting on some weight soon.

Tonight was a surprise. I fed him 3 times and he ate all of it. He even played with the ribbon a little.

Tuesday, 2/1/11

Jake was still doing the same this morning. When I got home, I picked him up, hugged him & he hugged me back! A little while later, I saw him playing with the ribbon I had tied to a chair. Within an hour, he was back to how he was previously. I was glad to see him feeling better, even if it was just for a short time.
